Chapter 5
Intertextuality- the ongoing interaction between texts.

Chapter 6
Disney's Lion King alludes to the Story of Hamlet. Simba is like Hamlet because both of their father's were kings who were murdered. They both ran away from their responsibilities after the death of their fathers.

Mufasa and Hamlet Sr. are alike because they both ran prosperous kingdoms and end up murdered. They both appear to their sons and show them the way back to their responsibilities.

Scar and Claudias are alike because they were both jealous of their brother's accomplishments. They both end up killing their brothers. They both deceive their nephews into thinking they are caring.

Political.
In the book Animal Farm George Orwell blatantly wants the audience to see the parallels to the Russian Revolution. John Lenin said that the lower class should overthrow the Russian Czar, and in the book Old Major had a dream that the animals should overthrow the farm owner. The pigs had a power struggle in the book like Stalin and Troshkey. In Russia Stalin came to power and threw his main points out the window and sort of became like the Czar. In the book the pigs ended up becoming much like the humans.

Except Sex...
Disney usually has a squeaky clean image when it comes to their movies, but one movie pops into my mind that clearly should have been PG because of the sexual scene. Actually, the sexual scene was implied. The movie The Road to El Dorado had a not-so racy scene between the native woman and the white man from across the pond. This scene bothered me because first it's Disney and we've all seen this before. The foreign pale skin man, falls for the native brown skin woman. Pocahontas actually!! This scene just reinforces the authors point that nothing is original.

Interlude-
Archetype- An original model or type after which other similar things are patterned
One archetype commonly used by authors is coming of age stories. For example in To Kill A Mockingbird, Jem and Scout realize that the world is actually cruel. They realize how much hate people can have towards people that are different. They lose faith in the justice system. They realize that their father is a good man, because at first they sort of resented how different he was from other fathers. They a also learned hard life lessons at a young age.

Chapter 21
Nemo in Finding Nemo is small  has a gimp fin. His small size and gimp fin represents that he is not fit for the adventure he is about to have. He thinks that he can't do anything with the fin. Later he helps his friends clog up the fish tank filter because of his small size and his gimp fin. This is a very common thing that writers use to make what hero's do in stories even more spectacular.

The Garden Party
What does the story signify?
The story signifies the classic struggle between classes. It also shows that people isolate themselves from what is outside their own little world.

How does the story signify this?
First, the wealthy Sheridan's house is separated from the commoner's homes by a hill. This was a clever way to symbolize the division of the classes by having the rich at the top of the hill, and the poor at the bottom of the hill.
Second, Laura doesn't know how to interact with people that are not in her class. For example when she meets the workmen she is shocked by how kind they are, because at first she can barely speak to them. Her misconceptions about the lower class made her uncomfortable.
Thirdly, the story also shows that even though the two classes are separated by money, they still have similar tasks. Ms. Sheridan commands her children about the party, while Jose commands his staff.

Comparison, I understood the classes concept, but I didn't really catch the Flight concept. It just shows that I should have read deeper into the story.
